He freed them from the centuries of hypocrisy about race. People can actually say that the US is the leader of the free world, without people commenting about the racial inequality.
Was King "the right man at the right time"?
Yes, because he had all the speaking skills of a preacher, and the courage of no ordinary man. His speaking skills lead to recognition by important leaders, and his courage let him stand up when people threatened him, not backing down. Would King be upset with the current use of his most often quoted line? Why or why not?He would not be, because it is being used to push forward things that were similar to King's goals.
